Independent Music Services - sub or root category?
Dec 26 2006, 2:38 PM EST
I think there's room to add support for independent music sites and services here. I can help organize the information for such an area if you like. I see I can add new pages, but I wasn't sure if you'd want this added as a sub category or root category. Here's some initial info to get the section started: Characteristics and features which are often found on independent music services. * hosting, streaming and download of legal mp3s * organization by artist, genre, date, and charts * playlist support * digital downloads/sales * ratings/reviews * site customization * stats/data for artists * event calendar * forums Whereas this list could be used to identify those which are "Music 2.0." * podcasting * RSS support for media, blogs, news, etc * blogs * photo services/sharing * video services/sharing * API * Ringtones * Widgets * friend networking * mashups with other services * Web 2.0 interface and application design concepts Examples: ====================== http://www.artistserver.com http://www.garageband.com http://www.jamendo.com http://www.projectopus.com 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I think there is probably more than enough to add these as a root category. Please, feel free to add and organize the best way you see fit. I'm not quite sure the best way for these things to be organized yet... but that is the beauty of the "wisdom of crowds", eh? We will all figure it out over time. :-)
